Taissa Farmiga, Nina Dobrev, Alia Shawkat, Angela Trimbur at the SXSW Premiere of Todd Strauss-Schulson's "The Final Girls"

The union of horror and comedy is a blessed one, bringing us years and years of entertainment from as early as the Evil Dead series to What We Do in the Shadows, a vampire mockumentary currently playing at a movie theater near you. But what happens when one more ingredient, a healthy dose of heartfelt sentimentality, gets added to that winning combination? In the case of the Final Girls, wherein a daughter is reunited with her deceased mother after being sucked into a slasher-film-set made reality, you get movie gold.
At its South by Southwest world premiere, we spoke with many of the film's all-star cast, who all agreed that working with such a large, talented ensemble was a dream come true—even in the midst of a nightmarish plot! That cast includes Taissa Farmiga in the lead role of Max, who is no stranger to horror films with her American Horror Story background, and a hot sheet of today's brightest young stars such as Nina Dobrev, Alexander Ludwig, Alia Shawkat, Angela Trimbur, Thomas Middleditch, and director Todd Strauss-Schulson.
